New to Eden, Experience thus far...

I'd posted this as a reply in someone else's post but a friend told me I should put it into its own thread instead.

Hello there! I'll just get right to the parts I hope you decide to change your minds on because right now it's a fairly unfortunate experience in otherwise what should be a wonderful experience! I know how much work you've put into this server, and that's also a bit of frustration by-proxy is that you've done all of this and there are some very critical points that aren't functional but rather design/mentality that we're running into as "friction".

My frustration so far with the server is that DAOC, at its core, is a 50% PVE <-> 50% PVP cyclical game. You play PVP until you need a break and then you go to PVE to relax and farm. DAOC at its core cannot have PVE stripped from it else you just end up with a "pvp side-server that people get burned out with in only a few months".

The PVE droprates are AWFUL except for a very select few places.

Alb friars always have those spots (in DF) locked down.

Mid no longer has a "PVE" class because Healer was gutted.

Apparently Bonedancers used to be decent but are completely worthless in PVE now.

Let's not forget that no one is really playing healing classes for the sake of healing on Midgard in S3. Every fight mids partake in they're fighting 40% -> 100% hp instant enemies whereas Mid healing is EXTREMELY rare and only available for sweaty premade or preformed guild groups (VERY UNHEALTHY). Hibs seem to always have 2+ healers per group, and albs have at a minimum what feels like 1.5 to 2 healers also per group. Mid healing classes are just terrible, and just because we have a "AOE stun" capable class from "PAC Healer" doesn't make up for this issue.

Then there's RP gains....the current system is primarily designed for the most broken and unbalanced realm on Eden....Hibernia.

Hibernia only need 70-80 people and can hold almost any keep against 2:1 odds. Then, because ALL of EU is on Hibernia, the hibs just walk into alb and mid lands for their relics without any contention and PVDoor until all realms are empty. What's the point in having relics in the game if they're only used for handing Hibs easy RP farm with no one capable of fighting back??

The current mainly toxic issue is the mechanic REWARD for holding relics the longest (WITH A MULTIPLIER) at the end of each week. RP gains are seemingly being nerfed for Alb and Mid in response (relic def/atk tickets, tower captures, keep capture ticks, support ticks replacing healing which is FAR inferior, etc etc) to the rps Hibs are raking in. How does this make sense?? Hibs continue to sky-rocket ahead of Alb and Mid in RPs....how can that ever be balanced??

Overall, the server is starting to swiftly sour because Hibs are uncontested 80% of the time, PVE has been gutted (you know, the other 50% of the game), and a toxic PVP mentality is being formed in the community for S3 harder than I hear was in S2.

Overall, not a good outlook, but that's what makes it frustrating because of all the other good work you've done for Eden.

Hope you see this and take something away from it other than "heck this guy" <3 :(

Re: New to Eden, Experience thus far...

I don't agree with everything above but what I do agree with is that the PVE droprates are awful.

I'm guessing they tried to reduce people looking to aoe farm and or solo farm outside of raid events to promote more group gameplay. Droprates isolated to named mobs means that there's just less overall places to camp than there otherwise would be if farming normal mobs was a viable option... and pretty much every named mob spawn is camped near 24x7

I think the lack of 8 man and smallman zones is the bigger killer. This seems to be season of the zerg. You go out in 3's you get hit by 8's. You go out in 8's and you run into 16 man squads. There is very little honor on this server- it's AJ every fight you see and throw more people to guarantee rps. Arena is a boon for caster vs melee groups when it just spawns everyone in a giant wide open field with no terrain advantages for melee whatsoever (plus it doesn't pop that often anyway). For all the things Eden does well, the solo, smallman and 8v8 game was light years better on Phoenix.

Re: New to Eden, Experience thus far...

The devs keep eye the stats information and look peoples views opnions and change things so i hope they appricated your feedback.

I hope personaly they take look pets again there Absorb values and survival values and damage again.

I have played 2 seasons and died 0 times to spirtmasters pet 1 time to enchanter pet and 1 time to bonedancer pets in two seasons.

There is plenty counters to pets in game with out haveing devalue there surviability more.

Mezz
Root
Stun
Slam
Confuse
Warden RR5
snare
Disease
Debuffs
AF reduction debuff
Near sight
Damage and death
Twf
static tempist.
Ichor of the Deep

I can not understand any need to reduce pets surviability in this game when there are so many counters to them in the game allready. I love the server the campaign and ideas devs are comeing up with like TOB. But its certaintly very custom server and the feel of pets attacking me or my pets attacking others feels very off and not very satsfying.
Luckly i can still have enjoyment with my class useing other tools then just a pet. But Ai guards are more likely to interupt my casting or kill me then any player pets.
