How to Play | Eden DAoC

New to Eden?

If you've never played Dark Age of Camelot, haven’t played in a long time, or are simply new to Eden, click below for a quick tutorial.

Start by downloading the DAoC client.
Run the installer (install DirectX if prompted at the beginning of the installation).
Choose a location for your DAoC folder or use the default one, but do not install DAoC on a USB key, OneDrive, or any other path that is not a local hard drive.
Untick “Would you like to create a game account now” at the end of the installation and click “Finish”.
Start the DAoC client using the desktop shortcut (otherwise, check your Start menu under “Electronic Arts”).
Let the patcher install the game, and when it’s finished, click “Cancel”, then proceed to the next step.

You can now download our Launcher.
Install the launcher, but do not install it in the same folder you used for the DAoC client.
The launcher should now be open (unless “Launch EdenLauncher” was unticked) at the end of the installation.
Read and agree to our EULA to proceed to the next step.
If everything is OK, the launcher should have detected your DAoC folder path. If not, click the folder icon (top left) and select the correct path (the one containing your game.dll).
You can now click on “Launch Eden”. You will be prompted to enter your Discord account (your Eden account is linked to your Discord account, so remember your credentials and keep them secure).
The game should now open, asking you to select which realm you want to start your adventure on.

Before creating your first character, you can click on “Options” to set up your screen resolution and choose between windowed or full-screen mode.
Our launcher automatically installs a recent user interface (Bysan’s UI) by default. If you prefer the old UI, select “Atlantis Skin” in “Skin Choice”.
If you’re not using Bysan’s UI, the Atlantis Skin comes with updated spell and melee icons by default. If you prefer the old ones, select “Use Classic Icons”.
You can do the same with character skins in “Configure Figure Version” if you prefer the old or new skins.
Also, don’t forget to change your keyboard binds (if needed) in “Configure Keyboard…”.
You can now proceed with the creation of your first character.

Once you are in-game, you can start questing (the nearest NPC with a golden DAoC logo above its head), bashing mobs (old school), or teleport to a Battleground (talk to the nearest Channeler, they have a blue circle at their feet) to fight the enemies of your realm and progress at the same time.
Even though you can reach max level on your own (through PvE quests or Battlegrounds), we highly recommend starting your adventure with one or more players.
Find other players in your level range using the commands /lfxp or /lfrvr (if you want to fight other players), or use the in-game chat and Discord to find people to play with.

Download the official client and run the game once to patch your client.
If you already have DAoC installed, you can simply duplicate your folder and repatch it using the "Official Client Update" button located in the top right corner of our launcher. [use a fresh client to avoid problems]

Download our launcher and install it (not in the same folder as DAoC).
The launcher should auto-detect your DAoC folder path. If the folder is not detected or is incorrect, set the path manually by clicking the folder icon located at the top left of the launcher.

When you launch Eden, you will be prompted to connect using a Discord account; this account will be linked to your Eden account.
To avoid any loss or compromise of your account, keep it secure and do not share it. If you have multiple Discord accounts, remember to use this specific one for Eden.
