I propose that pure casters and pure melees should have the option to choose any race-class combination. Some combos available at character creation do not actually create a character. Increasing the number of race-class combinations would help the replayability of a 21 year old game.
With all of the buffs available after launch, the class is more about a cosmetic choice than about combat power. I understand that not every class should have the ability to be a small race, such as a Lurikeen Bard, so maybe some race-class combinations maybe should stay restricted. However, some combinations that will not add a significant amount of power are absent. For example, there is currently no option for a Firbolg Champion, Elf Hero, Kobold Berserker, Frostalf Bonedancer, Troll or Dwarf Spiritmaster, Saracen Theurgist, or Inconnu Wizard. There is an option for a Norse Shadowblade but not a Celt Nightshade.
One compromise would be to allow the middle size humans (Celt, Briton, Norseman, Highlander, etc.) and the large races (Ogre, Troll, Firbolg, etc.) have every class option and leave the small races restricted to certain classes.

i am working on some ideas to give each realm a few more options for under-used races. based on some fun or interested choices to flesh out realm access while having the main races remain the face of the realm
i tried to keep classes less than 5 races with access to a class if possible.
i was also aiming for congruent race access for all 3 realms in the big picture. 4 support healers for midgard? i would like to have 4 in albion and hibernia too. 5 archers in midgard? lets make 1 more option each for albion/hibernia too. not all have to be optimal, some can be unique/gimp for fun or roleplay options, i never want to make overpowered combos but sometimes i have to flesh out what is left to round it out

i reworked races for each realm so they represent the face of the realm. expansion races should be less populated and deemed more rare in population, i adjusted them to be more in line with eachother
these new combinations would give lots of life to the game so people can always play their dream combination. for myself i would love to be an elven valewalker... just fun to be a tall scythe wielder
saracen friar would help the dex issue slightly to help weaponskill out.
a few more fun stealth options, and by now all the vets should know who can do what, this would allow them a small learning curve to adjust for the other fun combos
run around with new stealth groups? have 1-2 members that can stealth like avalonian where you seeming appear to be alone, but the target vanishes and you wonder if its lag? well surprise you have a full group of stealthers coming to ninja you shortly.

I'd change my Animist to a Luri in an instant. More dex AND hide in my own shrooms.
But honestly, if I get another race choice for Ani, it should probably be Elf, same as Live did.
Champs should pickup Sylvan, not Firbolg - the extra Int is actually (slightly) useful to them, while the Firbolg empathy is not. And Sylvan is underplayed, should put a few more in the game.
I think as pressing an issue would be to rework the rising stats for the various classes.
Bard has secondary empathy (23 points), which does literally NOTHING for the class, it's not a stat that even effects them.
Classic casters all get +15 quickness as they level, so they can.. bonk stuff with their staff slightly faster? (yes, I know back at the beginning of time, it modified your hard interrupt timer...) Should probably have Con instead.

i've played friar in 8v8 and rvr. they can hardly overpower any group fight or turn the battle like most pillar classes can.
