It would be perfect if you could still use Face and Stick.

Did you tried to drag the /Face macro to the action bar and use it into the recorder??

Bind the stick or face function to a key on your keyboard.
After starting the recording use the /recorder sendkey function (ex. /recorder sendkey r)
That is how I use it anyway.
