Nightshade & Recorder

I play NS and with recorder, a single click can have a dozen actions. It's useful for putting multiple skills and abilities on one button. My first button involves PA, but the recorder activates sprint, equips the mythirian I use to do damage, sticks the target, switches to the type of legendary weapons I want (I have 3 sets, cold - heat - energy), poisons each of them (WEP/CON debuff on MH), and finally tries 3 skills in order: PA > Twin Star > Asp Bite...This will do PA as long as I'm facing front-target while stealthed, if not, it will try Twin Star (44 CD skill), which could stun the target (if I've evaded [this could be useful if they knock you out of stealth]), and if I can't PA, and didn't evade, then Asp Bite!

I think 34 CS + 34 pierce (depending on your RR, but 34 @RR7) is the best spec. Just start with 21 CS, 34+ pierce and 44 CD (evade>stun) as you go to RR7+

I think pierce is a lot better than slash because of the anytimer, Asp Bite's & the armor damage table (in next screenshot, below). By using cold as your default, and heat against any assassin-type, and energy weapons against the chain armor (cold-fire-energy), and that's only a couple of reasons why LUIRIKEEN pierce NS (with no pts put into QUI at the start!) is the best NS. I could spend a lot of time talking about weapons, but one important part is the Royal Arcane Staff (I'm buying 2). It has 30 charges of 331 damage insta-DD called Wraith of Aidon. I could spend time talking about slash vs pierce too, because most people are trying to proc celerity. I think keeping legendary weapons is a lot easier and actually better, because of the higher proc-rate and 35% damage debuff. Look at the armor table below to see why having at least heat (for leather) and cold (for everything else)...[I try using energy too personally, against Midgard chain] legendries can give you the 5% bonus against different armor types. See below, slash is always -10% against Midgard chain...if I remember to equip the energy-legendary, I could do 5% more instead of -10% a penalty.

I think Rangers should spec 44 Pierce (instead of 34 for RR7 NS) for the (1s) longer 8s stun after-evade, Dragon Spider chain, to try shooting twice after evade + stunning this way (maybe one Crit Shot > one Rapid Fire...). And don't worry about any celerity at all...swinging 20% faster has nothing to do with evading and stunning for 8s so you can shoot twice. I think celerity is overrated on stealthers, I digress...

The 2nd button is for Creeping Death > Twin Star > Asp's Bite > and applies lifebane + disease poisons. You could have separate buttons to apply poisons' as you need them - but that's more work (and setting up recorders is about cutting work).

Each of my attack buttons have the STICK command (which I bind to the key "V"). I also put NS lvl 48 insta-dd, Lance of Night (I advise Mastery of Focus 1-2 so DDs hit), on all the button except for the 3 openers. You can't put an insta-DD with an openers (PA/BS2) because it will break stealth before doing the melee style.

3rd button I keep: stick ("V" key) and the insta-DD, but prioritize Tornado skill. It's a 50 AF debuff, and it has to be on a separate recorder button from Twin Star (lvl 44 CD skill that stuns for 7s after evade), because they're both 'After Evade' skills. After every melee recorder, there's always Asp's bite at the *end* (you add skills and actions in a backwards order when you record), because if you don't evade, you still use a skill... Asp's bite is just a good anytimer, and as long as you use Twin Star stun + Asp Bite for anytime skill, don't worry too much about the rest except in longer fights, you might do Tornado (-50 enemy AF after evade) and/or Diamond Back. I really just worry about the Twin Star stun and Tornado -50 AF besides the anytimer Asp Bite (and PA/BS2+CD).

The only other skill that is useful is in CD: Ice Storm side stun (5s) is pretty much the only other skill I frequently use. So mostly trying for Twin Star to stun, and looking to reapply any/all poisons after they Purge.

There are lots of buttons in fact, I use a 4th button if I want to apply lethargy poison (40% haste debuff poison made from LGM alch) in case I'm fighting a melee class. The Lethargy poisons can only be made by LGM Alchemists.

I like to keep the insta-DOT (12s) Clouded Destruction on its own key because it acts as a good interrupt against adds, but it's only 500 range :cry:

Start with /recorder start. Then click or type each action in order. You will have to figure out the priories. When done, type /recorder save <namehere> with a name. Then to edit, use insert and discard, but you can only enter 1 new command each time with those.

You can make recorders to sprint automatically when you come out of stealth too...The weapon swap between 2h and 1h makes it so the stealth and sprint can apply sequentially...

Put all your buffs on recorders too. Mine equips the 25% buff myth, heroism pot, re-equips my RP myth, and goes into stealth...
(I use Dragon Focus myth for fighting though - I keep the 6% RP bonus myth on at the end of battles etc.)

Just put the icons for the actions on the skill-bar, type "/recorder start" and click (or type) each action in order. There are commands for applying poison: "/poison oh (slot)" or "/poison mh (slot)". The (slot) is the spot in your backpack. I *fill the top 2-3 spots in each bag with a different poison* (5 bags/poisons in all: enervating, crippling, lifebane, infectious, lethargy). It's easy to get alchemy and craft your own so you can stack 500.

Here's one button with Shadow Shroud (rr5 ability + CL Parry buffs + HOT [cloak]):

That button is good to press at the beginning of a melee fight. The CL abilities come from Seer & Fighter trainers. The top 11% chance to parry doesn't stack with the bottom one with 5%. The chance to parry will override any real chance to parry.

It's not too much about NS, but maybe I'll write more. I would not like playing without understanding recorders. It's possible to download a persons entire recorder file, so you don't have to build all your own.

I'll add a few things, the spec and list of items to keep the post simple...For pierce, pick LURIKEEN. You'll have 351 DEX and 251 QUI (250 QUI is the max) 10 STR / 10 CON / 10 DEX as starting stats (QUI not needed because 250 is max, and template+buff gives 251 with 0 starting QUI). DEX helps damage, speed, and evade (50% evade maxed with Dragon Focus Myth equipped + Heroism).

The only charges I use are Haste (from Chaos bracer) to keep attack swing speed fast (every 10m) and sometimes a 331 insta-nuke from Royal Arcane Staff.

Spec depends on RR. RR7 & RR11 are the big milestones. At RR7 you can afford 33 stealth, 33 venom, 34 CS, 34 Pierce, 44 CD. RR11 gives +10 all skills.
The template is only missing 1% on a few resists...

The legendary weapons can each only have 3 mods: +7 CON and on one and +7 STR on the other, with +7 Venom, 5 Stealth, and between them, a combined 9 CD. Gloves give cure disease and (+15 DEX). The helm gives (+15 CON) +28 CON/28 QUI, 7% matter, 3% body. The ZNK stuff is below, you can see the exact SC...
