Damage over time

Sorry for my bad english (i am french)
i post here because i can't post in suggestion topic.
i don't know if your feelings are the same.
Dot are so useless in this version of daoc.
Healers have just to heal until dot is over. no need to clear it..
when solo CL heal is enough to survive or you are nuked before
Baseline single dot is just extra damage and average 79-89 damage (duration10sec/freq2.5sec =4 tick)
and don't stack with spe single dot....WHY NOT its just baseline
but
Spe dot don't make really more damage 83-89 damage (single or ae) (duration 12sec/freq 2sec =6 tick) wooaaaa impressive!!
why would you spe in dot line when you can have aedd /aedd snare/ aedd+debuff each 2.8sec with average 140 damage or bolt x2
Please makes spe dot VIABLE

Matter magic cabalist (single / ae)
telekinesis sorc (single)
painworking mastery necro (single / pbae)

Agreed.
I feel like dot's were nerfed to prevent 'solo farming'. any dot spec line IS useless when the damage only does 70-90'ish damage..that's a mere scratch to other players and most NPC's. If the dev's are that worried about solo farming with dot's, make it so dot's do legitimate damage (used to be 140+ damage) to PLAYERS.. while the already implemented Dot's damage to PvE. *shrug*

In Bg fights the aoe dots are more there for interupts then damage to be fair .
But as a cabby who plays matter anoys hell out me that wizzard and now Occultist has aoe dots that do more damage then the matter cabby.
Aoe dots Dps
Wizzard 87 DPS
Cabby 83 DPS ....
Occultist 102 DPS
Neco 79 DPS pbaoe mind
you can test things now but with my template and Augmented Acuity 5 Mastery of Magery 5 and buffs etc you can get cabby aoe 83 DPS up to 129 Dps and crits on top . But i find the crits very weak, Its all about that Brain power for DPS .
So higher realm rank More Dps but trust me its worthless vs High realm rank healers there way out healing you.
Eden just done bugfix that makes dots crit between 10 to 100% vs players before was 10 to 50% so there will be boost crit dps for dots next season. This could be big boost for dot dps to be fair.
Cabby matter needs buffing as class to me the most.
The single nuck they added is nice but most BG fights and matter cabby in general was always about the aoe dot INTERUPTS and dps in bgs tower keep fghts
Wizzard and Occultist do everything better then cabby only thing they dont have is the nearisght.
At moment your more useful in bg as spirt/body cabby for aoe snare aoe disease and debuffing the lord for nucking and harder pet for intrupts and chance to stun,
Also as a cabby you have no group specline buff or chant for group. your bring 0 buffs to a group.
I would suggest for start swaping the AOE DPS a Occultist does with the matter cabby. Makes no sense Occultists has so many tools same as wizzard why are they both able to out aoe dot a matter cabbalist
Also with so many Albion clases with aoe dot or pbaoe do im not sure why Midgard warlocks cant aoe dot as well to be fair.
Midgard have 3 classes with bolts now could always give matter bolt to cabby as well

Occultist: 102dmg/2.5 sec ticks/20 sec duration (lvl 47)
Cabalist: 83dmg/2 sec ticks/12 sec duration (lvl 46)
Wizard: 87dmg/2 sec ticks/12 seconds (lvl 47)
You can´t really count pbaoe doting in this comparison. Also the difference of caba and wiz dot is one spec level. So i guess the 4 extra dmg has the value of this spec difference. As you can see the occultist dot is also different by ticks and duration. The dot was already nerfed heavily: "The damage for the AE DoT in Deathsight specialization has been reduced from 2/17/30/60/121 to 2/17/30/56/76/102"
wiki?content=changes and the class occultist will get probably also more changes.
I personally think that the dmg value is fine, if you lower the duration to 13 seconds as example.
Caba had features like ae dd/pbaoe added later and of course the pet speccline overhaul. Also the version that you would get a buff if you play without a pet seems to be a cool one. I personally wouldn´t switching dots or adding ae/pbaoe dd after the implementation of occultist. I also wouldn´t change the whole pet thing, because that would mean to overhaul every petclass and brings other balancing issues with it. I would add the lone enforcer buff to give caba sth unique.

This would be the best idea for dots from all clases.
I not played live for years since like 2005 so i had look at current cabby specs. i like idea of sapphire pet given the group a buff like enchanter pet seems kind fair. The rest seems hell lot changes to the old cabby i remnber to be fair.

this post was before beta S3 with occultist...
beta have increased the pb of dot with occultist introduction.
don't forget , hib have only the mentalist for dot when you have 2 or 4 classe mid/alb
menta in holism is just pom bot without great heal, without pet ,no dd+debuff, no bolt, no disease.
only a stun dd with 1Heal over Time
give the occulist dot to other realm too.
No miror classes but equality in spell plz

Not gone happen Midgard is like the realm Bolts now
Albion realm aoe dots
But hibernia still the realm quickcast stun.
Hibs are not gone want albion and midgard casters to have a stun in return for one more class that can bolt or aoe dot

Equality is mirrorclassing. So nope. ^^ Again occultist got another tickrate and duration. I wouldn´t care, if the occult duration is a bit less (nerf only occultist) or the other classes have a bit longer duration to make spec dot less ignorable. (buff all non occult dot classes). I wouldn´t change the dmg value.
