I'm trying to find the better utility class/spec options for Mid.
I've gotten a Skald up to 40+ and it is a fun class but I really feel like in fights I'm not really doing anything. I'm just kind of keeping some of the fringe elements of the enemy team wrangled or just mopping up the weaker foes. Often, it seems I'm just there for speed and some other stuff.
I've played all the realms in varying class/spec combinations over the years in live (from the beginning before leaving at ToA). I've really enjoyed classes like the Theurgist but would love to find something similar for Mid as I have a good guild group there.
I do not need crazy damage. I mainly play support characters. Back in the Classic/SI days I played a Friar with the group staff spec.
Help a fellow mid out here.
Utility class/spec?

Re: Utility class/spec?
I've played all three, since original release, but Mid has always felt like home. There really isn't anything like a theurg, so a like for like isn't really an option there. RM is the Mid caster w/ speed, and a Supp Rm has some utility w/ bubbles and debuffs.
You might wanna look at the Healer class though. Caster speed is always nice, and all three spec lines are valuable. A Pacification emphasis makes you the big CC gun in any group. You'll always want some Aug and Mend, but the interrupts and hard CC are in Pac.
Shamans don't get the big CC, but their Cave line makes them strong soloers at the cost of a lot of group utility. Probably a tri-spec for the best balance of group and solo. The more you put in Aug, the more you're built for groups.
You say you don't want to focus on DPS, but one of the best all around casters is also a main DPSer, that's the Spiritmaster. Whether you go Supp for PBAOE in bomb groups or Dark for that juicy fast lifetap, you'll get some root and mez and strong debuffs too. That intercepting pet is no joke either. A buffed SM pet blocks and intercepts far more than you'd expect in both RvR and PvE.
