What happens when you reach a point in the season where the BGs are empty or you play off hours? Can't level anymore in the BGs? And if you can't level in the BGs, then people will stop playing in the BGs, completely killing the action in said BGs.


Deserters aren't there just for fun, they serve a purpose in RvR zones to ensure the possibility of character progress when it wouldn't be otherwise possible. (Example you zone in a nes BG and all.you fight are purple con enemies)

When you running with pure pug grps thats the better/faster way to level while getting RP+BP.
If you want to roam for pure RVR just check the routes between PK and deserters.

I wasnt talking about efficiency, i was talking about fun. If you implement a feature that makes everything 100% predictable (deserters that make everyone run between point A and point B), it becomes routine and dull as hell.

This keeps people moving and inside the BGs, and promotes them going to a centralized location to keep action moving.

If deserters were removed and replaced with kill tasks, you'd end up with:

• No way to level off-hours or later in the season when the BG is empty

• No way to level if your realm is significantly outnumbered and the enemy is camping your PK

Im sure you know that BG's are not the only way to level in this game.. If bg is empty or your PK camped (only seen it happen once so far on eden, so not exactly common), you can just go do quests outside of battlegrounds.
