Saddlebags Loot Missing

I made saddlebags for my horse and activated them. I placed items in the available 4 slots. When I dismounted the first time and then activated my /mount mini window, the items were still there and could be moved. After logging off yesterday and then logging on today, the items in my saddlebags have disappeared. A friend put items in his saddlebags today and simply dismounted. When he remounted, his items were gone. I checked with Inventory Recovery today about yesterdays missing stuff but apparently too much time has passed or there is some other problem with that aspect. The items I had in my bags were 3 Alch pots and a Heroism barrel.
