Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

The proposed solution, did not fixed FloatingMessage for me. It works only in windowed mode.
Not verified on xorg (maybe you are using xorg?), on wayland (flatpak on manjaro) it doesn't work.

Not even Windowed FullScreen, only windowed is effective for floating messages.

Is there anywhere a guide that explain how to "play" with file 'Program Files (x86)/EdenLauncher/ui_floatingmessages.xaml', maybe it is a trivial change to make in this file (maybe not)

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

All went well until i got to the handler script. I've searched for hours but cant seem to find a solution.
On top of all that module is not present on Mint.
Anyone got any idea what is this about?

lorekey@Excalibur:~$ flatpak run net.lutris.Lutris lutris:rungame/eden-daoc --output-script ~/Games/eden-daoc/run.sh

Trying to run in bottles now -.-

Edit: Runs well on bottles, in fact all the instalation process is simpler.
There is an initial overlay issue on the floating messages that clears once you hit/heal sometihing.
Cons: seems there is a very slight drag/sync issue but dosent seem framerate related

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

What Mint version & DE are you running? I'm running 22.1 / Cinnamon and it installed from Lutris flawlessly for me. I have a different problem. The screen looks like this.

https://postimg.cc/Vr1WCQRD

I ran it for years on Mint 21.2 / MATE without any problems. Zoning was several seconds faster than when I ran it under Windows.

I guess I can switch back to MATE. Cinnamon doesn't seem any better as far as I can tell.

Same problem with floating message on lutrus, everuthing is ok if I don't alt tab... but it's annoying

Edit : I use /floatingmessage reset when I alt tab

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

thanks alot for the guide! got me up and running pretty quickly.
/floatmessage hide though, none of the workarounds/fixes had an impact for me.

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

Don't know if people have figured this out, but I combined the "/floatingmessage reset" from one post, where someone talked about having to reset when alt-tabbing, and another that said "/floatmessage hide" didn't work.

Try this /floatingmessage hide

This should hide the floating Eden emblem overlay, it seems to last through alt-tabbing too...

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

Thanks for this. I'm currently using it with Bazzite and the foundation works well.

WIth floatingmessages enabled and visible, I get that the launcher is putting the invisible window above the screen.
That invisible window often catches input focus when alt-tabbing and you have to alt-tab multiple times and click in the game area not overlaid to "fix" it.
Input focus does not prevent all keys, but some of them (Enter, quickbars, etc. do not work; WASD does.)

Anyone with an idea how to make that overlay ignored by the task switcher? or force input focus to the game.dll?
I tried a bit with kwin but am too inexperienced, due to the window not actually appearing as a window.

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

Hey,

Did you manage to fix it?

I just did the setup in Bazzite yesterday, and everything seems to be working fine.

I am not too sure what is the "Floatingmessages" window though..
When I log in on a character, I see what I assume it could be (I see an overlay with the Eden logo over the game), but as soon as I click/move, it disappears and causes no issue. I can alt-tab, etc. without it coming back either.

Is this the window, or is there another that will come to break things for me too eventually?

Re: How to play on Lutris [Linux Guide]

I'm not expecting any answer given how specific it is but if anyone know how to make the link work on the /profiles I'd like to know in order to avoid having to set up everything again.

profiles

You get links like this:

edenlauncher://cGY9R2FuaWwsNDIsMjUzOTY1MzE0OTY5MTc0MDE3LDEyNzc2OTI0MSw2NWY1MzI=

edenlauncher://cGY9dXNlci5kYXQsNDEsMjUzOTY1MzE0OTY5MTc0MDE3LDEyNzc2OTIzOSwzY2VjMjdhZQ==

They obviously do not work and I have no idea about what to do.

edit: Nvm, I guess it was covered in the guide, just that I got some errors when following it and skipped that part because the game was running already. I'll just make it work now that I know what it is.

edit²: I had to install qt5-tools for xdg-mime to work. Also I had to install gamemode manually but it was easy to figure out while qt5-tool was not exactly obvious.
