Point of a Scout?

Is it possible to get Devs expectations of playing a scout here on Eden? I’m just curious on the intended role of these classes. If it’s to snag solos, the solo population is super low to where I will spend hours waiting for just 2-3 people. If it’s to find that low health target who’s running away at 20-30%, then that means most of our “earned rp’s” are having to be leeched. It’s not fair to be forced into being solo or duo’s and constantly receive 30% Rps from kills. While other “not intended” classes can solo and have a much easier time.

They are forced to solo or duo, low population of class to do this. If we group more than this we are easily detected. I’ve had casters run by and staff me out, QC stun, then death, which is dumb.

Dmg is nerf’d. Takes 8+ arrows to kill a tempted cloth/leather user.

Shields block arrows a ridiculous amount atm. Plus anything chain, scale is impossible to dmg.

Can’t hit crits on sitting targets due to archery being caster based and not physical.

I think its important to understand after live launches, and a fee months go by, EVERYONE is going to be somewhat temp’d. Making it extremely challenging for a archer class to get any kills.

TBH, I don't even care abt the group debuff too much, or wouldn’t mind it as long as I knew I had sufficient dmg and did not need to rely on multiple assists. I would like to see a increase in Archery dmg. It would not even have to be dmg all around. Just Crit Shot. It should be similar to a PA? It’s a one time shot, that requires stealth, so it can’t be spammed, and it should be able to provide significant dmg. If anything keep it to where a target cannot receive more than 1 Crit shot at a time to prevent Assisted Crit shots/Power Shots.

Did you try different types of arrows? A fully temped Scout can do some serious damage. You have to try to drop in and leech during fights. Don't be afraid to group up as well. 7 shots might seem like a lot, but you have 3 arrows in the air before the first one hits. Scouts in the very early days of DAOC could almost 1 shot casters; what's the fun in that?

So not accurate at all. What actually happens is people are running damage shields. The moment you hit them you cant fire again. I have died many times to the same caster solo. If you use crit shot, which for whatever reason does the same basic damage as PB. It doesn't break the bubble so when you do finally get off your second shot the bubble absorbs it. you are interrupted because of the damage shield. He turns and near sights you or runs away . I tried every possible scenario to kill this guy but couldn't he would either get away or kill me. after near sight you try to pursue him you get rooted then killed. So lately i try to sneak up on folks slam and PB them. at this point im an infiltrator :P. Any ideas are welcome to help. I am new to the new archery system but I am beating my head against the wall. I don't want this to be a argument, just point out flaws in my response and help me get better.

Re: Point of a Scout?

My post was based on the assumption that a Scout was an actual Archer still. For some reason they modified the class to be a gimp stealth caster with 3x the cast times and none of the perks. You can get kills, but in my opinion, until they change it back to where I can draw and fire/switch targets when I should be able to, I will just stick with Infiltrator.

Infiltrator Detect Hidden can see you from PB bow range through your stealth. Rangers/Hunters literally have zero chance unless they add on a fight.

Re: Point of a Scout?

So wrong...

On a Cloth > Critical > Rapid > Standar = dead, maybe another standar if no crit...
Leather > Crit > Standar > point shot x2 = dead
Studded > Crit> standar> standard> Point shot> Run back > Stealth> crit = dead
Chain with shield > Crit > standard > run > stealth > crit....
cloth with pet > Crit>rapid > run back to not get hit by the pet if caster pet> steath> crit shot > standar or rapid = dead
Thane/vw > same > just get the advantage with rapid fire if you get rupt
skald is harder

You get caugh, oh no.... Shield > fake slam (dump purge) > 2 hit with your 1h > Slam > run back count to 3> Point shot x3 > dead...

On alb archer have the easiest arrow choice = blunt - neutral to everything. if you have the time to identify your target you swap...

4L+ = blade to get the side peel to give you again more escape...

Hunter with a better Mos than you wil just rek you by sending their pet after you and run > you can try to instant slam the pet > speed to catch the hunter if he run, or use if direct after receiving an arrow, to cut the distance, > slam > run opposite way of the pet, and counting until 3 then 3 point shot = dead. if he purge, you are dead :D

But overwhise, scout is soo easy to solo and the best part is as a steath you will choose 75% of your fight

Oh and to do that you just need to cap your dex / bow / toa magic dmg /toa speed cast... the rest is good too but its enough to kill approx everything

Re: Point of a Scout?

I wish that Mythic had turned the archer classes into trackers instead of hybrid casters.

By "trackers" I mean adding abilities to locate, count, identify, and mark enemy realms.

For example:
Something like a NS range cast-able-from-stealth AOE that marks the map of every friendly player in that zone. The mark can change based on the enemies hit by the AOE.
