Problem with Wise Crafter - Sleeves quest

I'm level 45, and I've been killed 3 times trying to grab this fibrous plant. It's literally surrounded by several aggressive purple mobs. I've tried swimming underwater, on top of the water, and even stealthed, but they kill me each time. However, I searched the web, and I can't find anyone else who's struggled with this....so maybe there's something I'm missing? Any help or tip would be appreciated.

I should probably add....the quest says that the plant is underneath the shipwreck on the ocean floor....but the plant is actually above the water, just a little west of the ship.

Same for me. Was close to the plant, tried on surface and underwater but couldn't interact with it.
Two more players were there and it was bugged for them as well.

Same experience here.

Also, Hib and Mid plants are both underwater surrounded by Yellow Con to lvl 30 in low level original zones, but Alb's plant is surrounded by Red/Purp Mobs to 49 in high level SI zone.


EDIT: Just got it to work. Go to the very bottom of the water underneath the plant and look up and right click the plant even if its on the surface and you should get it.

Thank you sylvynyr. Did it exactly as you described and it worked fine.
As long as one stays close to the ground it can be done without drawing mob attention. Eventhough it's difficult. On the ground there is no part of the plant, so don't search for it. Just stay exactly unter the plant on the ground and right-click the plant.
Previously and following quests were no problem at all. All six parts add up to a set of crafting gear with 50% crafting speed bonus.
