I had the same issue on my kob BD but only with the drakes quest chest: when I put it the arms will stay naked. I just reskinned it and the issue disappeared. Anyway they said somewhere that is should be a client-side issue so they cannot really fix it, try to find a chest that does not have it and ...

duo with sham is surely better, you can also try the double aoe dot way (but I don't know if it works here, never tried).
Healer would be good with stuns and mezz but I don't think it will add much more to the duo performance.
