I run the classic client and all the epic armor sets look like the original to me. Don't know about the catacombs client, though.

I don't think you're going to have much fun in a 50 bg, as the overwhelming majority of the chars there will be stealthers and FoTM classes like BD's, necros, skalds and minstrels.
