I don't disagree with you. CC is core to DAoC mechanics and always have been, my solution would be to drastically reduce CC effectiveness by 75% or more with a 120 second immunity to all forms of CC after. It would place a more tactical approach to gameplay rather than root, mez, stun, snare, rinse ...

CC duration reduced by 75% against enemy players (including mez, snare, and stun). CC duration unaffected for realm guards, pets, and mobs. Remove purge and Ignore Pain - nobody plays without them anyway, less realm timers = more active players actually playing SoS only useable after you've been out...
