Champ Levels Not Activated By King

Have spoke with the king after reaching 50 on my eld, but it did not cycle the CLxp bar over, it still says "you are not yet on the path of the champion".
Have tried talking to trainer, rezoning, relogging, and turning in fomor raid quest(gave no xp) and then speaking with the king again - all to no avail.

your epic' s quest is finish ? (epic armor)

You get champion levels automatically, not via king. If you cannot see that then fix your UI.
