Try a different browser. After authorizing, the browser is supposed to send a login code to the launcher, and it sounds like something, an addon or a setting, is blocking that.

It also copies the login into your clipboard, so you can click the launcher and press CTRL+V for the login to start.

Playing on different servers is as simple as having 2 folders with separate DAoC installs, one for each server.
Make sure one is only used for Eden by pointing the launcher towards it, and the other one only used for Live.
